Bengaluru, Nov 5: The war of words between current chief minister of Karnataka B S Yediyurappa, and former chief minister Siddaramaiah, never looks like ceasing any sooner. Yediyurappa, who predicted that the Congress will not rise to power as long as Siddaramaiah is part of it, challenged Siddaramaiah to prove his mettle by winning the constituencies going for bypoll. He also said that the people will not trust the lies spread by the Congress party and Siddaramaiah.

Yediyurappa, speaking at a press meet on Monday November 4, charged Siddaramaiah with making baseless allegations, having been frustrated at losing power. He asked Siddaramaiah to leave aside these petty things and accept the challenge of winning the seats which go to the bypoll next month. He sarcastically said that the Congress will be permanently in the opposition as long as Siddaramaiah leads it.

He said that Siddaramaiah's demand for resignation of union home minister, Amit Shah, is height of stupidity. He questioned the popularity of Siddaramaiah by pointing out that in the Lok Sabha election under Siddaramaiah's leadership, his party had won one seat in Karnataka. He wondered on what basis the Congress chose Siddaramaiah as the leader of the opposition. He concluded that the last nail in the coffin of the Congress would be hammered in by Siddaramaiah.

He expressed surprise at Siddaramaiah’s objection at release of advertisement towards relief works executed for the flood affected people. He advised Siddaramaiah to get the figures from the chief secretary of the state or deputy commissioners and find for himself what is true.

He said that everyone knows why the disqualified MLAs resigned, and charged the then speaker, K R Ramesh Kumar, and Siddaramaiah, of not accepting the resignation letters handed over by these legislators initially. They sighted legal issues when the resignation was tendered a second time, he noted.

He stressed that the things he had said between the four walls was recorded by someone but admitted he was ignorant who did it. He however said he does not have anything to do with the disqualified legislators and that it is left to them to fight elections on behalf the parties of their choice. He said that this will not in any way change the verdict in the case filed by disqualified legislators.
