Veerappa Moily Unveils Agenda for Chikkaballapur Constituency


Bangalore,Aug 27 (DHNS) : Following a visit to his Chickballapur constituency, Union Law Minister, M Veerappa Moily on Wednesday unveiled grand plans for the residents there. 

He promised to provide immediate relief to Chickballapur which is currently reeling under acute pressure of potable water.

“The first and foremost plan is with regard to the purification of the water available in Chickballapur. Dove Chemicals, as part of its corporate social responsibility (CSR) has agreed to constitute water treatment plants in the region,” Moily added.

Addressing mediapersons here, the Union Minister said that the plants, each costing Rs 14 lakh, will be built completely by the corporate house and the number of plants including the land requirement is being studied by the Zilla level officers. He expected the plants to be up and running before December 2009.

On the Nethravathi programme, Moily said that the details for this project was being studied and very soon a concrete plan will be placed before the people.

Water to reach people

“I would not like to comment now but hopefully in the next one and half months, water will be brought to the people in the region from the river,” assured the Minister.

Among other plans agreed upon by the Zilla level authorities in Chickballapur and the Central government, is the setting up of the “Paper Honey Comb” project to support the livelihood of the weaker sections in Chickballapur.

“People can earn as much as Rs 100 per day by producing this fine component used for construction,” he said. This particular project is to begin by September 15 2009 with the building of 100 houses in Chickballapur and another 100 in the Bangalore district. Moily further stated that the Apollo Hospitals, Chennai will begin facilitating better health facilities in the region by upgrading the facilities at the local hospitals in co-ordination with the Zilla level hospitals, especially with regard to cancer treatment.

 Meanwhile, Biocon along with Narayan Hrudalaya have also come forward to upgrade the existing Primary Health Care centres apart from holding regular health camps in the area.

    welldone mr moily this is the only costituency given a chance to sit in the cabinet dont forget that, after loosing in udupi and chikmangalore, do your best and get ready for the next election
