Mangalore, Aug 28: 27 teachers of Ullal Hazarat Sayyed Madani English Medium School continued with their protest against the reversion of the head mistress of the school by the management of the school, by applying mass leave on Wednesday August 26.

The parents of the students of this school are worried, as 27 teachers have been boycotting classes since the last three days. Although the management has hired some temporary teachers to manage the classes, the solidarity expressed by such a large number of teachers has irked the school management. Head mistress Sandhya V J, whose reversion and action taken against a teacher wrongly for scolding a misbehaving student has led the teachers to revolt against the management, claimed that the teachers have taken to the path of confrontation, because of their faith in her and also to show their resentment against the autocratic bahaviour of the school management. She said, she had never requested or pressurized any of them to fight for her, but added that a few members of the management committee have contacted some teachers, offering to provide them job confirmation letters and job security, if they rejoin for duties. "This is an attempt to break out unity," she said.

School management convener Mustafa said that an organized attempt to malign the reputation of the school is being carried out with the help of some innocent teachers. He claimed that these efforts have the support of some external forces, and teachers who have no foresight, are falling prey to these tactics.

He also said that the group runs 16 schools and that the management has requested the teachers to take classes, with a view to ensure that the future of the children is not put at risk because of the stubborn attitude of some teachers. He warned that the school is unaided and the management will not hesitate to initiate strong steps, if the agitating teachers do not mend their ways.
