Beltangady: Death of Fr James : Post Mortem Report says 'Cardiac Arrest'

Beltangady: Death of Fr James : Post Mortem Report says 'Cardiac Arrest'

Daijiworld Media Network - Beltangady (SP)

Beltangady, Aug 28: Surprisingly, the post mortem report on the death of Kutruppady church priest Fr James Mukalel (39) at Totattady near Beltangady on July 30, has attributed the cause of his death to cardiac arrest. The policemen seem to be doing everything within their command to close the case, by accepting the report at its face value.

It may be recalled, that the naked body of Fr Mukalel had been found lying on a mud road in Totattady in the early morning on July 30 by a family living close by. The representatives of Beltangady diocese had strongly pleaded for a thorough investigation into the cause of the death of the priest, suspecting foul play. They had also led a delegation to the inspector general of police (western range) here and secured his assurance that the policemen would leave no stone unturned in finding out the cause of the priest’s death.

The policemen had interrogated several people and had claimed that they had solved the mystery. They had informed, that they would reveal their findings upon receipt of the post mortem report.

Rumours had spread like wildfire after Fr Mukalel's lifeless body was found lying near his motor bike. Various theories were put forward by different quarters and the investigating officials kept mum, thereby fuelling the rumours further. It may be recalled, that the social director of the local diocese, Fr Thomas Kannankal, had stated immediately after finding the priest’s body, that this was a clear case of murder.

Many questions remain unanswered even now. Why had the priest strayed from his route back home and diverted his bike on a deserted mud road? He was already late, as he left Charmady convent after finishing dinner, after 9 pm the previous day. His motor bike looked like having been parked and fallen off due to loose mud. His gown, pants, undergarments etc., were found at different places near the site of his death.  There is no response from the family of the priest, which had expressed lack of trust in the post mortem conducted in Mangalore and had got the test done again at Kozhikode. It is not yet clear, as to whether that report has been received or not. Moreover, why did it take so long for the team of doctors to conclude it to be a case of cardiac arrest? It may be recalled that the team of doctors had visited the spot of the death of the priest to look for themselves the actual situation there.

One expects to get replies to all the questions, to clear the doubts hovering in the minds of the people about the cause of the death of the priest and the lurking suspicion that the concerned have been trying to suppress the truth and give the case a decent burial.

After evaluation of all the stories from the police force, we the public think that those doctors who conducted the post mortem on Fr. James body were not qualified in their medicinal professions. They are not fit for their designations and we the public call them as “BUTCHERS” of this world.

As per the earlier version of DSP Dr. A Subrahmanyeshwar Rao that they have succeeded to solve the mystery of Fr. James and they have interrogated two women in this connection. Now, the same police force clarifying that the death due to the “cardiac arrest”. Is it fabricated proof by doctors and police force?. Thousand questions are arising about this statement and no solutions????!!!!. Known people clarify the fact please.

The case should be handed over to CBI and all the officer''s and doctor''s involved should be removed from service. This is done by some people who have to be behind bars but are roaming freely which is dangerous for the society.

" Sathya Meva Jayathey "...!!!! Are we anywhere close to the bitter truth in this verdict? Are we assured of justice in any cases, if such a ghastly truth of a murder is made look like a cardiac arrest.. Where are we heading with basic human values in life? Family should take up the issue at higher level & challenge this decission n seek justice. After some time we might get to hear that a scam is un-earthed about this, involving senior officials & also doctors.. God save our place & save us all..from the clutches of " Injustice"

Very good conclusion by the police department and the doctors!!!!. They are fools any way, and making the public fool. I think the priest knew that he is going to have cardiac arrest... so he removed his clothes here and there and he parked his bike on the roadside???.

Everyone who dealt in this case is currupted heavily. I think even karnataka govt. involved in this incident. Mr.yedyurappa atleast can you give some justification for this incident. Do the doctors need one month to the post mortem report of cardiac arrest case.

Untold truth is far better than naked truth at times. Its true that justice needs to be done but if gain of justice means embarrasment for people associated with the victim what is the point in bringing out such truth.Specially in this case where it does not matter physically to the victim but to the surviving family it means embarrasement.

Theres something really fishy in this, Cardiac Arrest!!!!! how can it be. Even if it did, why were his clothes not on his body. This matter should not be left loose and the person who has done this must be give death sentence for torturing this young priest and killing him. These cops and the doctors are all involved in this thats the reason they took so much time and just trying to close the issue by saying its a Cardiac Arrest. Wonder what the Goverment is doing. Please do not close this issue by just giving up like this. They have always taken we christians for granted.
