Udupi: 13 Women Injured in Truck-Tempo Collision

Udupi, Aug 29: After a truck hit a tempo carrying fisheries women near Pangala Vidyavardhaka School near Kaup on the national highway 17 on Friday August 28 evening, several women travelling by the tempo sustained injuries.

The injured have been identified as Shyamala, Saraswati, Vanajakshi, Shobha, Saroja, Sumati, Sujata, Bharati, Heera, Gulabi, Lalita, Asha and Vasanti, all residents of Kaup Kaipunjal. The tempo was moving towards Kaup from Udyavar, while the truck was going to Udupi from Mangalore. The injured were provided first aid at a private hospital and primary health centre in Kaup and then shifted to a private hospital in Udupi through ambulance service.

Kaup policemen have registered a case and confiscated the two vehicles. Investigations are on.
