Mumbai: KEM Hospital staffers spot dead foetus dragged by cat

Daijiworld Media Network - Mumbai (SR)

Mumbai, Nov 29: In a strange incident, staffers at the civic KEM Hospital, on Tuesday, spotted a foetus being dragged by a cat. BMC officials said that they have ordered an inquiry regarding the issue. However, it is still not known how the cat got access to the room where biomedical waste is stored before disposal.

Confirming the strange incident, dean Dr Hemant Deshmukh said, “There were three cases of spontaneous abortions that day. There is a civic staffer who maintains a log of biomedical waste, such as limbs, tumours, placenta etc, before it is handed over to an external agency for disposal.

We are investigating whether there was any break in the protocol and if the incident happened while they were trying to remove it from the room,” said the dean, as quoted by TOI.
