Bangalore, Sep 15: Chief Minister B S Yeddyurappa stated in the state assembly on Monday September 14, that the government will bring ammendments to the compulsory retirement rules of the government employees, so that the services of lazy, irresponsible and inefficient employees can be terminated through compulsory retirement. He also stated that the respective district deputy commissioners and superintendents of police will be held fully responsible for the incidents of communal violence in their districts.

Replying to the debate on agriculture and rural development at the ongoing assembly session on Monday, the Chief Minister said that the government employees should be punctual in attending the office and should work an hour extra if there is a need for the same.

"The officials should reside in their places of posting, even when they are rural places. Wherever it is impracticable, they should reside at least at the respective taluk headquarters. No one should leave their headquarters without obtaining permission from higher officials. In case of violations, warning will be issued twice and if the officials continue to err, they will be sent home if they commit the same mistake a third time," he explained.

Yeddurappa said that he would be paying surprise visits to the government offices and asked his ministerial colleagues and MLAs to visit government offices to get to know of the situation there. He explained, that ammendments will be brought to ensure that the employees who are lazy, irresponsible and corrupt, will be shown the door henceforth through compulsory retirement. He thanked union law minister Veerappa Moily for thinking of bringing ammendments on this line and promised wholehearted support of the state in his endeavour.

The Chief Minister said that no one can create obstacles for the puja and other forms of worships of other religions and asked the officials to take care of law and order needs to ensure that untoward incidents do not occur in their command areas during festivals and other occasions.
