Kundapur: Shivaram Karant Award Conferred on Journalist M P Veerendra Kumar

Kundapur, Sep 21: Under the auspices of ‘Kairaly Suhrovedi’ organization here, Onam festival was recently celebrated in a grand manner. As part of the celebration, veteran journalist and managing director of Mathra Bhoomi Media Group,  M P Veerendra Kumar, was conferred the 'Kota Shivaram Karant' award.

After accepting the award in all humility, Veerendra Kumar noted that in a country like ours, where various festivals of different religious denominations are being celebrated with a strong sense of unity in diversity, celebration of Onam, which is predominantly a festival of Kerala, in Karnataka, reminds one of the need to work for national integration at any cost. The occasion also witnessed the award of 'Kairali Prashasthi' being conferred on Dr H Shantharam, administrator, Academy of General Education, Manipal.

Eminent Malayalam writer, Dr Punathil Kunhabdulla, inaugurated the function. Kundapur Working Journalist Association president Vinaya Pais and Rotary Club Kundapur president Chitra Karanth were the chief guests of the function. President of 'Kairali Suhrudvedi,' Shrishan, delivered the introductory speech. Thamban Nambiyar welcomed the guests. Prashanth Tholar and Parwathi G Aithal introduced the guests. K K Raman proposed vote of thanks. K T Surendranath and Thomas monitored the programme. Canara and Nightingale Nursing College students exhibited their talents through a well-conceived cultural programme.
