Mangalore: Eshwarappa Dangles Hope of 24-hours Power Supply

Mangalore, Sep 23: State energy minister, K S Eshwarappa, said that Chief Minister B S Yeddyurappa will be initiating the 'Nirantara Jyoti' that aims at providing uninterrupted power supply to both rural and urban areas of the state, during the next month, as the government is determined to improve the power supply situation in the state.

He was speaking after inaugurating the 33/11 kv power sub-stations, 33 kv underground cable laying works and the building complex of human resource development and power distribution centre here on Tuesday September 22.

He also added that the government has been taking steps to fill in the vacancies in the power sector and to absorb the services of the staff presently working on contract basis, on permanent basis.

"Mangalore Electric Supply Company (Mescom), because of its excellent management, has won recognition even at the national level. Mescom is in the forefront amongst the power distribution companies at the national level, as far as minimum pilferage of power and maximum recovery of dues are concerned," he appreciated. He specifically praised Mescom managing director Sumant and the employees of Mescom for their achievements.

District in-charge minister Krishna J Palemar said that the power sub-stations inaugurated on Tuesday would help the citizens of the city to get quality power.

Member of Parliament, Nalin Kumar Kateel, participated as the chief guest. MLA N Yogish Bhat presided. He stressed that the sub-stations should start functioning at the earliest and that the problems encountered by the consumers are addressed by Mescom without delay.

City mayor K Shankar Bhat, MLC Capt Ganesh Karnik and district BJP president K Monappa Bhandary too were the chief guests of the function.

Mescom managing director S Sumant welcomed. Director (technical) C S Ganesh and chief engineer M Mahadev were present.
