Mangalore, Sep 24: The department of hospital administration, Father Muller Medical College organized a Workshop on Media in Health Care in the Hospital Conference Hall here, recently. The workshop was inaugurated by Fr Denis D’Sa, administrator of Fr Muller Medical College.

Chief guest Dr Arunachalam Kumar, dean, K S Hegde Medical Academy, Mangalore said that media plays a vital role in health sector and in the modern era the health professionals need to utilize the media to the maximum to educate the public about the happenings in the medical field.

Dr Shivasharan, managing director, Namma TV, Mangalore; Dr Ronald Fernandes, principal correspondent, Deccan Herald English daily, Dr Shivanand Bekal, assistant director, All India Radio, Mangalor and Guruduth Kamath, technical consultant, Udayavani Kannada daily, Udupi were the resource persons.

Fr Patrick Rodrigues, director, Fr Muller Charitable Institutions  presided over the valedictory function. In his concluding remarks he stressed the need of publicity in the medical field.

Fr Stany Tauro was present. The Hospital Media Committee members and students of other management college were the participants.

    Indeed the media play a very important role to make people aware to lead a healthy life and there should be regularly interesting articles on health issues in newspapers and on TV. Best Kurt
