It is waste of resource if new airport is built in Udupi. I think Acharya needs to get popularity and wants to show that he is working. BJP govt. is doing nothing but wasting money. minorities are being attacked daily and this goonda Govt. is supporting the Bajrang dal goondas. I do not support new airport in Udupi while full fledged airport is in mangalore at a distance of 50 kms from uduapi. It will be just a waste though the Minister and BJP Govt may gain financially by Land mafias.

Since we do not have good roads in Udupi/Mangalore Districts, it is good idea to have airports in every village and town. This will make us to fly and reach comfortablly. Afterall India is progressing...................

If government has plan for a new airpot, we should support it.Since the government could not fulfill the requirements of basic amenities like education, roads and drinking water even after 60 years after independece, I do not see they are met in another 60 years as well. In the meantime, what is wrong with having second airport nearby. Once starts operating, it could bring in considerable revenues to states coffers.

I agree with Bharath Shetty, Guru & Santhosh Bhandary that it is sheer waste of public money for an airport in Udupi, when we have an airport at Bajpe at a distance of 50-60 kms from Udupi, unless it is an effort by Achari to satisfy his ego. Rather, an exclusive express-way 4/6 lane road from Mangalore to Udupi via airport can be built at leass than half the cost of the proposed Proposed Airport in Udupi for Dr Achary.

I do not see any reasons to have an airport at Udupi bcoz we have Mangalore airport hardly 50 km away.Instead is it not wise to have a mono-rail between Udupi & Mangalore via Bajpe Airport?

Everyoe needs their place to be developed and so do I. Mangalore may be a big town compared to Udupi but we do have Manipal, an educational hub which attracts knowledge seekers across the globe and it will be good if Udupi have its own airport which can cater upto Bhatkal. But we are not in that hurry that it should be put to action so soon. We do have priorities like drinking water, health, roads. We have to prioritise our needs first and plan for an airport to be operational in next 10-15 years. If we have one more airpot at Udupi we are not going to lose anything but it will create some sort of competition for effeciency, pricing and airtraffic. So I am in very much favour of having one airport in Udupi/Manipal

In that case each districts should have airport to cater to the people. Like in the past we had demand for landlines and now more mobile lines, so also, less land travel and have more and more air travel. Instead of developing the existing land routes and train services, why embark on an airport since Mangalore Airport is not far from Udupi. It is understandable to build/develop airport in Chikmagalur or Hasan district.

in my opinion, Infrastructure development, drinking water, town planing is priority than a additional airport. Metro planing would be ideal at this stage.

Those who have commented against Airport in Udupi are from Mangalore or close to Bajpe Airport, If they are from Udupi or close to Udupi, they would not have commented like that

Any prior study taken place ? air distance from the site of proposed coal based thermal power plant(nagarjuna) is very close. The plant was expected to utilise 14,000 MT of coal each day,fly ash which the plant was expected to discharge would endanger flight operations especially at night

Kiran, Well said...in KERALA, there is PEACE AND HARMONY among Hindus, Muslims and Christians. OUR, HOME MINISTER instead of supporting the Minorities is encouraging the so called SENE and DAL's. In kerala, strict action is taken for any attack on religious place. In karnataka, any attack on religious places is MINOR INCIDENT FOR OUR HOME MINISTER....OUR HOME MINISTER NEEDS TO LEARN FROM OUR NEIGHBOUR.

I can not understand (unless land mafias) the need of airport in Udupi when we already have in Mangalore. It make lot sense if they invest same money in road connectivity infrastructure. Are we trying to fake the infrastructure although lots of people struggling to get proper road access?

When we already have a fullfledged airport at Mangalore why do we need one more at Udupi ? That will be a total waste of resources which can otherwise be used on the most urgent needs of udupi like roads, drinking water, schools and so on. There should be some rational thinking on why do we need one more airport unless the politicians want to land in Udupi !
