Mr.Pradeep you are right. If 220MW power was generated for Mangalore or our District's use we would not have any power shut down. It appears that the authorities kept public in dark, rather fooled the public by giving impression that the power project was for the benifit of Mangalore.

Mr. santosh, before commenting pls understand how much 220 MW POWER it means. out of 220 MW how much mangalore getting?. mangalore still in dark/ under load shedding why? mangalore power plant is not producing power for coastal karnataka. for others , who dont want take effects what so ever with in their area.plant is set up with business interest of the group and low cost of setting up with a short period of time.not to give power to mangalore. Now they shifting the plant for operational reasons.

The shifting of the project may not have anything to do with the the environment related issues or the protests by locals. The fact that the power plant is mounted on a barge, it was known in the beginning itself that the promoters can shift it at any other place depending on the future viability. The promoters may be looking at their own profitability rather than the local environmental issues.

All coastal projects should be shifted to north & eastern karnataka .Make provision for rly tracks for transporting goods to this north & eastern part of state. IAS OFFICERS MUST UNDERSTAND FARMERS & FISHERMENS DIFFICULTIES RATHER THAN PUPPETS OF GOVT/MINISTERS.

Mr. D'cunha, I do not understand your view on this incident. If environment is a problem, then we have to stop using even the vehicles and go back to the stone age. It is sad that we are going to loose 220 MW of power and let the coastal people be ready to live in dark as being done in stone age.
