Mangalore, Oct 13: The scholarship disbursement for meritorious students under the aegis of Prerana ( Employees Social service trust ), Infosys Mangalore, Vidyaposhak (Dharwad), Dhrithi Foundation (Mangalore), Yakshagana Kalaranga (Udupi) and Bevinje Sridhara Kakkillaya Foundation (Kasaragod) was held on recently at Infosys Mangalore Development Centre.
Dr. Subramanyeshwar Rao, IPS, Superintendent of Police, Dakshina Kannada, was the chief guest on the occasion.
A total of 383 students, including those pursuing professional courses, from Udupi, Dakshina Kannada and Kasaragod districts, were supported to the tune of INR 11,64,789 of which INR 10,46,699 was provided by Prerana, Infosys Mangalore, and the rest by other donors and Vidyaposhak (Dharwad).
As part of the inaugural address, Dr. Rao said, “This effort by Prerana and Infosys is stupendous. It is heartening to see the Infoscions drive Pratiba Poshak in a determined manner. Children benefitted from this, must come back with even better performances next year, thus increasing the motivation for Pratibha Poshak to contribute more to this larger cause.”
Bhaskar Chicknanjundappa from Prerana, Narasimha Moorthy from Vidyaposhak, T. Shivarama Shetty from Yakshagana Kalaranga, Dr. Srivnivas Kakkilaya from Dhrithi Foundation were also present at the event.
Following the scholarship disbursement process, a session on soft skills was conducted for the students pursuing professional degrees. For students studying in other disciplines, a session on a structured approach to achieve their goals was conducted. Both these sessions were led by Infoscions.
This is the fourth year that Prerana, Vidyaposhak and Dhrithi Foundation are extending support to underprivileged meritorious students of Dakshina Kannada district. In addition to the financial support, Vidyaposhak and Dhrithi Foundation also provide books and soft skills training for the students.
