Karkala, Oct 14: Kartik (18), a first year student of BBM degree course in Hiriyadka government degree college, died in a road accident that occurred at Guddeangady in the taluk on the evening of Tuesday October 13.

Kartik, son of Radhakrishna Acharya from Ellare village, used to come to Guddeangady from Hiriyadka in a bus and then take a bus to Ellare from there. As usual, he alighted from the bus and was crossing the road at Guddeangady to catch a bus to his residence, when a Maruti Omni vehicle that was moving to Waranga from Ajekar, hit him. Kartik, who was thrown to the road, sustained critical head injuries. He was immediately taken to Ajekar Hospital. From there, he was taken to Manipal Hospital. While being moved to the operation theatre in Manipal, he breathed his last.

Kartik was the eldest son of Radhakrishna Acharya, a carpenter by profession. He is survived by parents, a younger brother and a younger sister.

Driving has become rash these days... Traffic police should take some action against rash driving, whether it be a private car or any bus.. Even buses are not less these days, especially express.. May Karthik's soul rest in peace. One advice for the people who are not following their own safety measures: PLEASE, AFTER ALIGHTING FROM ANY VEHICLE, JUST STOP FOR A MOMENT, WATCH AROUND AND THEN PROCEED ...

My heartfelt condolences to the grief stricken family of Kartik. May God grant them grace and strength to bear this loss of a precious life. At the same time I appeal to all road users, especially pedesterians and students in particular, to be extra cautious while riding a vehicle or crossing road which can indeed avoid such tragic mishaps.
