Mangalore, Oct 15: Corporation Bank became one of the first leading public sector banks in the country to launch ‘Gift Card’ after guidelines were issued by RBI. The Gift card was launched in association with VISA and is branded as "CorpBank Visa Gift Card" by G C Chaturvedi, additional secretary [FS], Ministry of Finance at New Delhi, recently.
J M Garg, chairman and managing director, Corporation Bank presided over the launching ceremony. Asit Pal, executive director of the bank, Uttam Nayak, country manager, South Asia, Visa, A Mohan Rao, B R Bhat and H S Saini, general managers of the bank were present.
CorpBank VISA Gift Card is a Prepaid Plastic Card, an ideal alternative to Cash, Gift Vouchers and Gift articles. It will work just like the bank’s debit card and is highly versatile. The cardholder can purchase household items, apparels, cosmetics, books to dining in chosen restaurants. It can be used across the country in about five lac "VISA" Merchant locations. It can be used at multiple outlets and multiple times till the amount is exhausted, stated a press release issued A Mohan Rao, general manager, Corporation Bank, Corporate Office, Pandeshwar.
The validity of the card will be one year; hence it can be ordered first, and then gifted any time during the validity, to meet unforeseen contingency. The spending of the cardholder can be timed to his needs. The gift card can be issued for a minimum of Rs 1,000 to a maximum of Rs 5,000. It will be an ideal giveaway for payment of bonus and ad-hoc payments. CorpBank Visa Gift Card will be an ideal product for companies and consumers who can use this to gift or reward employees, customers and suppliers during the festive season. The card has been customized to suit various occasions and festivals like Ganapati Puja, Eid, Navaratri, Christmas, Holi, Raksha Bandhan and Valentine’s Day among others.
The card is safer than cash since lost card replacement is available, subject to prior registration of the cardholder.
