Gadag: Minister Sriramulu to Build 10,000 Houses out of Own Funds

Gadag, Oct 15: State health and family welfare minister, B Sriramulu, announced that he will be building 10,000 houses for the poor people, who have lost everything in the floods, by using his own money. He was speaking after presiding over a mass marriage function of all the religions, organized in the city on Wednesday October 14.

He added, that apart from various schemes the government has been implementing to provide relief to the flood-affected people, personally, he and minister Janardan Reddy will build 10,000 houses by investing Rs 100 crore out of own funds. Saying that the children of the 14 families, who have been orphaned due to the collapsed houses, will get all facilities including education. The 11 villages that suffered extensive damages in the rains, will be shifted elsewhere, he stated, asking the people not to panic. He assured that the government is with the people who are in difficulty.

He vowed to continue to hold the mass marriages on a large scale, which is being held in Gadag district for the third time, as long as he lives. He assured to provide BPL cards to the families of the brides and grooms who got married at the function.

State tourism and infrastructure development minister, G Janardan Reddy, who inaugurated the mass marriage function, said that within the next two months, a mini airport and outer ring road in the city will come up. He said that the mass marriages being conducted by the followers of Reddy brothers and Sriramulu in Bellary and Gadag districts every year, will be continued to be organized. MLA C C Patil, MP Shivakumar Udasi and several other leaders also spoke on the occasion.

Tontadarya Dr Siddhalinga Swamiji, Dr Pandit Puttaraja Kavi Gavai, Shivashantaveera Sharanaru and Fakkira Siddarama Mahaswami graced the occasion.
