Mangalore, Oct 15: The debut screening of ‘Jokulatike’, a Tulu comedy telefilm, directed by M Saikrishna, was held at the Town Hall on Thursday October 15, along with a formal inaugural function.
Speaking on the occasion, Ramachandra Baikampady, chairman, State Fisheries Development Corporation, said that the Tulu language will not decline if activities in the language such as drama, tele-film, and films continue.
He also suggested that Tulu-speaking people should continue to support these activities.
Devadas Kapikad of ‘Cha-Parka’, who inaugurated the programme by lighting the lamp, praised the efforts involved in producing the tele-film.
P B Pinto, convener, United Karnataka Association, Kuwait, said, “As per the United Nations’ report, Tulu language is declining. But the willpower of the Tuluvas will not allow it to decline. So, Tulu-speakers need to support the language.”
The guests honoured Molly Cutinho, the 81-year-old actor, who appears in the tele-film.
Shrinivas C Kini, entrepreneur, and Sharmila D Kapikad were also present. Director M Saikrishna welcomed all and producer Sudhir Kottary proposed the vote of thanks.

Well, want to bring notice to everyone who reads that there is a mistake in the name. Her name is MOLLY CUTINHA (and not Molli Pinto). She is the mother of famous Konkani comedian Dolla, who is my uncle. My Granny Greatest! She also acted in my film SMS 6260. Love yu Grandma!!!
