Unique Initiative by Indian Medical Association in Mangalore


Mangalore, Oct 17 (DHNS): The South Kanara branch of Indian Medical Association will start an unique initiative in the form of educative programme for the mass under the leadership of President Dr K Mohandas Bhandary on October 18, at the house of one Ranajith at Babugudde first cross in Attavar. 

Addressing a press meet here, President Dr K Mohandas Bhandary said “a programme of awareness, health and locality will be started. On one Sunday in a month at 6 pm, I will visit a house in a particular locality and stay in that house whole night.”
He said that he will interact with the people of the locality on the drinking water facilities, toilets, drainage system, disposal of wastes, use of spray for mosquitoes and so on.

If there is any loopholes in the system, it will be reported to the health officers, District Health Officer (DHO) to take action.

Dr Bhandary said awareness on health, precautionary measures to be taken to prevent the outbreak of diseases, immunisation programmes will be held on the occasion.

At the same time, information will be provided on honourarium for senior citizens, widow pension, facilities available for pregnant women belonging to BPL families, facilities available at government hospitals, Yashaswini scheme, arogya suraksha will be provided to the local residents.

Such programmes will be organised at Bengare, Jappinamogaru, Pandeshwar, Maroli, Thokkottu, Katipalla, Gowrimutt road.
