Mumbai, Mar 20: On Thursday night some 60 students were rescued stranded at the Singapore International Airport and brought to the city following disruption in aviation schedule due to coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak. The students, most of them from Maharashtra landed at Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport.

A relative of one of the pupils said that some 40 of them are from Maharashtra while the rest are from other states. “Most of the students are pursuing medical course in the Phillipines. They went to Singapore but had to spend a day-and-a-half there as there were no flights available for them to return to India,” he said.

“The students are still in the plane. I spoke to some of them over the phone. We will know about their status once immigration checks and thermal screenings are done,” he added.

In the wake of coronavirus pandemic which has affected almost 150 countries, flight operations have been disrupted worldwide.
