Mumbai: Yakshagana organizer Mulooru Sanjeeva Kanchan passes away

Mumbai, March 23: Veteran organizer and convener of Yakshagana plays and dramas in Mumbai, Mulooru Sanjiva Kanchan(88) passed away at his residence in Goregaon, here on Monday morning after a brief illness.

He hailed from Mulooru of Dakshina Kannada district and was staying in Aster Tower, near Oberoi Mall, Goregaon (East). He is survived by three sons, three daughters, friends and relatives.

 

He had founded Geetambika Yakshagana Mandali in Mumbai about 54 years ago and was its founder president. He brought Cinema, Yakshagana and drama teams from his hometown in Karnataka to Mumbai and arranged performances in Pune, Nasik, Baroda and other cities getting himself identified as a successful arts organizer and convener. He had worked sincerely for the growth of arts.
