Udupi: Retired Banker, Philanthropist, Srinivas Ballal No More

Udupi, Dec 2: Retired assistant general manager of Syndicate Bank and philanthropist, N Srinivas Ballal (74) from Ambalpady here, breathed his last on the night of Monday November 30. He is survived by wife, a son and a daughter.

Ballal, who happened to be the brother of the late Vyasa Ballal, ace Kannada novelist, had served Syndicate Bank in places like Bangalore, Belgaum, Hyderabad etc., in various capacities.  When the city-based Tulunadu Finance lost heavily, he opted to work as the honorary director of the firm and served in that capacity till the very end. He also had functioned as a member of Ambalpady Social Education Society, managing director of Manipal Canara Nidhi and used to extend financial assistance to educational institutions and government hospitals, in the capacity of the president of Ramadas Ballal Charitable Trust.
