Mangalore: Fight for Language has Damaged Communal Harmony - Punaroor at 'Eid Milan'

Mangalore, Dec 5: “The fight for the language has damaged communal harmony in a way. So, the academies of languages should work as a link between all languages”, said Harikrishna Punaroor, former president, Kannada Sahitya Parishat.

He was speaking at the inaugural of the cultural programme ‘Eid-Milan’ organized by Karnataka Beary Sahitya Academy in association with Urdu Sahitya Academy, Bangalore, at the Town Hall on Friday December 4.

















































 

“Language can only retain the values of a place which is rich in culture and traditional values. The academies related to particular languages should concentrate on the values of society and should also link the languages”, he said.

Khalilul Rahman, chairman, Karnataka Urdu Sahitya Academy, presided over the function. 

K S M Masood, president, Muslim Central Committee, Kanachur Monu, president, Ullal Sayyed Madani Darga, Khusro Khureshi, chairman, minority commission, and M B Abdul Rahiman, chairman, Karnataka Beary Sahitya Academy, were also present.  

Nasir Ahmed Khan Varsi and Nazeer Ahmed Khan Varsi team from Hyderabad presented Urdu ‘Qawwalis’ and Sharif Nirmunje and his team presented Beary folk songs during the three-hour long musical programme.
