Mangaluru: Mescom appeals consumers to pay electricity bill on time

Daijiworld Media Network - Mangaluru (MS)

Mangaluru, Apr 5: Though it was published in a section of the media that payment of electricity bill had been deferred for a period of three months (till June 2020) there is no clarification in this regard from the union ministry of power to the state governments or companies supplying electricity. Therefore, Mescom has asked its customers to pay their bills on time.

Mescom has also given details of monthly meter reading and how the bill distribution can be handled. Mescom is supplying 24x7 power for people to carry out their office related work from their homes. A statement by Mescom says that it has taken steps to ensure uninterrupted supply of electricity during the lockdown period as all people will be at home.

Mescom says that all customers will be sent bills based on average or last month's bill amount. For customers whose data is already with Mescom, the bill will be sent via email, SMS or WhatsApp. Other customers, whose details are not registered online, need to call helpline number 1912 and give their account ID and mobile number. The bill will be sent to them either by email, SMS or WhatsApp. The customers can also avail the bill details by registering on Mescom website www.mesco.in. In addition, the bill can also be obtained by contacting the sub-divisional office of Mescom. The contact details of subdivision are available on website of Mescom.

Customers of urban areas can pay bill by logging on to www.mescom.org.in and viewing their bill. Payment can be made through debit card, credit card, internet banking or through UPI. Customers can opt for 'Quick Payment' and pay the bill amount without registering also. In addition, the urban customers can pay the bills through Paytm or through Karnataka mobile one application from their credit card, debit card or internet banking.

Customers of rural areas have to log on to www.mescomtrm.com and view the bill. They can pay the bill without registering through the 'Quick Payment' option. In addition, all cash counters of sub-division will function with all safety precautions of Covid-19.

If any customer/s cannot pay the bill due to unavoidable circumstances, such customers should submit an appeal to the sub-divisional officer of Mescom. Appeals will be looked into on priority basis. From May 1, the regular meter reading and distribution will be carried out. any differences in actual usage and meter reading will be adjusted in subsequent bills, said Mescom.

At least MESCOM has its portal where we can pay the bills online. What about the property tax? The online facility was promised by the then DK Mayor Kavitha in April 2017. Where is this facility? She is gone now and the rest of the talk/promise with her.

Firstly it is surprising that when it comes to payment of bills, no one knows about Online payment whereas they are good at online shopping on Amazon / Flipkart etc. Let MESCOM take a cue from Kerala State Electricity Board, who has given time till 02nd May 2020 for payment of all bills generated till 31st March 2020 without any penalty / fear of disconnection.

It's shows Modi's relief speaches mere statement and fooling masses on EMI and other payments, Bajaj finance charging 450 RS for non payment of EMI . In disguise of covid19 problems government increased petroleum price although every part of the retail petrol price came down almost 15% . Ambani pledged 500 crores for PM's relief fund , every day he will earn surplus 800 crores only out of petroleum products.

Even big ticket pvt leasors of commercial property, in Mumbai, have given a 2-3 month concession to pay the lease rentals; and here, a govt co is demanding timely payments when they know the fluid situation!

THEY SHOULD THINK ABOUT THOSE WHO ARE NOT GETTING SALARIES, LOST JOBS, FROM WHERE THEY WILL PAY AND IF THEY DISCONNECT supply their condition will turn from bad to worse in this torrid summer!

March 2020 bill is not generated by Mescom. Without the bill how can they ask the payment. I use online flat form to pay Mescom bill like paytm,Amazon,freecharge.. and it's shows zero outstanding. Please submit the bill first to make payments. No average calculation allowed.

Those who want to pay on line payments it is well and good. For other Mescom make arrangements to collect through Bill issuing person. So people can pay from their place only till lockdown is in progress. I hope this will benefit all Electricity consumers. That what I believe.
