Mangalore: ‘Do Not Politicize Communal Disturbances’ – Khusro Qureshi

Mangalore, Dec 6: Karnataka Minorities Commission chairman, Khusro Qureshi, advised people to look into the real reasons for the communal clashes that happen often in this region, instead of playing politics. “I have discussed the issue with the leaders of Rashtreeya Swayamsevak Sangh, Vishwa Hindu Parishat and Bajrang Dal. After the Muslims and Hindus exchanged their stands and view points on various issues, a solution has been found for the problem,” he claimed.

He was speaking after inaugurating ‘Al Badriya Fest – 2009’ programme, organized at Al Badriya educational institutions in the seventh block of Krishnapur near Suratkal on Saturday December 5.

“Every religion preaches communal harmony. Ramzan, a Muslim festival, has ‘Ram’, the name of a Hindu God, in it. In ‘Deepavali’, a festival of Hindus, the name of ‘Ali’ is found. It is possible to give fillip to the efforts to strike communal harmony by giving importance to education. Out of the six religions categorized as minorities here, Muslims have the highest population. They can achieve fulfillment in their lives by properly studying Holy Quran and imbibing the preaching found in it sincerely,” he opined.

President of Al Badriya Muslim Jamaath of Krishnapur seventh block, B M Mumtaz Ali, presided. Beary Cultural Foundation, Dubai, president, Dr B K Yousuf, entrepreneur, B M Farooq, B A Moidin Bawa, K Lakshminarayan of MRPL-ONGC, corporator, Gulzar Banu, City Corporation standing committee chairman, Tilakraj and various other dignitaries were present.

Convener of the Fest, Mohammed Rafi, welcomed. B A Mohammed Ali presented the programme.
