Bangalore: 'None Allowed to Loot State Resources’

The Hindu

Bangalore, Dec 7: Karnataka Chief Minister B.S. Yeddyurappa on Sunday said that his Government has not given an opportunity for anyone to “loot” the natural resources of the State, including iron ore.

He was speaking to presspersons after garlanding the statue of B.R. Ambedkar on the occasion of the 53rd death anniversary of Dr. Ambedkar in front of the Vidhana Soudha on Sunday.

Contrary to reports in the media that the BJP Government was not committed to safeguarding the wealth of the State he said it is wrong to pass judgment that the Government had itself been supporting the alleged loot of the State’s resources without ascertaining the facts.

Asked about the Government‘s stand on the latest development over the mining issue, the Chief Minister reiterated that the Government would cooperate with the CBI. It would instruct all the departments concerned to extend full cooperation to the CBI, he added.

On the issue of responding to the Opposition demand over the mining issue, Mr. Yeddyurappa said that the Government would give a befitting reply to all their demands and charges in the coming legislature session. The floor of the legislature is the right forum to reply to the charges of the Opposition in the larger interest of the State, he said. .

Speaking on the life, services and contribution of Dr. Ambedkar to the nation, Mr. Yeddyurappa said that he would emulate the ideals espoused by the great leader. The Government had instructed all concerned to display framed colour photograph of Dr. Ambedkar in every office of the Government .

Dr. B R Ambedkar’s death anniversary was observed at the Janata Dal (Secular) office here on Sunday with party leaders and workers organising a function.
