Mangalore, Dec 7:
The Giridhar Rao Sanjeevi Bhai Vruddashrama at Kodialbail in the city wore a colourful look, with the walls of its hall lit up by over 70 paintings of children that were displayed at ‘Colours’, a two-day painting exhibition  being held in the city from Saturday December 5.

The event organized by Centre for Integrated Learning (CIL), has provided an opportunity for the children from Abhayashraya home for the orphans and destitute and the CIL Parallel School children, to exhibit their talents through the medium of art and colours.

The exhibition was inaugurated by the convenor of Abhayashraya and the Vrudhashrama, Srinath Hegde, in the presence of Julia Roller, a social worker from Germany.

Hegde lauded the efforts of CIL in providing such an opportunity for the children of the orphanage, and said that it was a first of its kind event in the 40 odd years of the orphanage’s history. He opined that such events will go a long way in building the confidence and self esteem of the deprived and less fortunate children.

The joy of the participants found no bounds when they received the colourful certificates,  with some of them were receiving one for the first time in their lives.

The students of CIL Parallel School have also displayed their talents through their paintings and educative posters on different burning issues.

Executive Director of CIL, Sachitha Nandagopal, was present on the occasion.

The exhibition was open for general public between 10 am and 12.30 pm.
