Daijiworld Media Network - Washington (SD)

Washington, May 2: Green card applicants and H-1B visa holders in the US who were asked to submit various documents would be receiving a grace period of 60 days from the US government due to the ongoing disruption of normal activities during this pandemic.

As stated by the US citizenship and immigration services (USCIS), the grace period of 60 days would be inclusive of requests for evidence; continuations to request evidence (N-14); notices of intent to deny; notices of intent to revoke; notices of intent to rescind and notices of intent to terminal regional investment centres; and filing date requirements for Form I-290B, notice of appeal or motion.

It said, "USCIS will consider a response to the above requests and notices received within 60 calendar days after the response due date set in the request or notice before taking action."

The statement implies that before it takes any action, the USCIS would consider a Form I-290B received upto 60 days from the date of the decision.

"US is adopting several measures to protect our workforce and community and to minimize the immigration consequences for those seeking immigration benefits during this time." it said.

The relaxations are considered based on the ongoing situation due to the coronavirus outbreak.
