Udupi, Feb 1: The Padubidri policemen have claimed that have solved the mystery of the daylight robbery of a house belonging to Harish Kumar, post master, located opposite the Nandikoor branch of Corporation Bank here, on December 30, 2009.

In the theft that had occurred when the family members were briefly away, four golden bangles, a ring, a necklace, four wrist watches and a mobile phone had been taken away. In several thefts in the past, the residents of the locality had strongly suspected the involvement of the labourers of Udupi Power Corporation Ltd., whose camp is located near here.

The policemen, who conducted extensive operations, arrested Anil, a resident of Koppa taluk in Chikmagalur district, who works as a labourer for the said project. The ornaments that he had sold to a man named Guruprasad from Koppa, have also been confiscated. The arrested man disclosed that he had thrown the necklace away in the plant site, thinking it to be made of spurious gold. His movements were tracked by the police team with the help of mobile phone.
