M'lore: Girls of 1955 Batch, Ladyhill School Reunite with Fun Spirit

Daijiworld Media Network – Mangalore (SB)

Mangalore, Feb 4: It was a great time encompassed with love and laughter when 11 out of 34 ‘girls’ from batch 1955 of Ladyhill School met up at Pinto’s, residence of alumni Dottie Pinto at Mannagudda here, recently.

Like every time the spirited women lived the school days and thoroughly enjoyed the get together. Fun was in the air with young heart and spirit though all the gathered were now on the wrong side of 70.

The idea was conceived in Mumbai by Grace Pinto, the pioneer in reunions. Then on the tradition has continued in joints such as Manjarun, State Bank area, Pinto’s, Mannagudda, Eden’s Aquatic Club, Nantoor and Benny’s in Kankanady, Mangalore and at Santhekatte – Kallianpur, Udupi.

The first get together I was able to organise way back in the eighties when 14 of us met in Mumbai at my residence. And from then on there was no looking back. There were get togethers at Santacruz, New Bombay too. And later I organised a get together at Kallianpur in 1996 my new residence. I wanted all to be there and with help from my other classmates - Taramathi, Dotty and Prabha I could collect addresses of all and that was the most exciting activity I had done in years.I sent them all a ciricular. It is then that I realised that some had expired - a sad piece of news. The get together at Udupi (Kallianpur) was once again of 14 but many of them were new and in all I have met all my class mates. God Willing I hope to have a gala get together at our 60th year - most of us will be 75 by then! At these get togethers no one listens but everyone talks!!!

Hey! this is so awesome! I graduated from St. Ann's High School in 1967. Anyone out there? Can we also organize something for ourselves? I will be in Mangalore on a visit in August. I would really appreciate if someone responds to this initiative. Let St. Ann's also make it happen! rehana rodrigues (fernandes)
