Udupi: Bannanje Ramacharya Dead

Udupi, Feb 7: Freedom fighter, veteran journalist and writer Bannanje Ramacharya (93) passed away here on Saturday after a brief illness.

After securing the Sanskrit Vidwan degree from Madras University, Ramacharya started the monthly magazines Navashakti (1939) and Dhurina (1940). After stints at various magazines and newspapers, he served as Assistant Editor at the Kannada daily Udayavani from 1970 to 1984. He is survived by wife, a son and seven daughters.
