Daijiworld Media Network - Bengaluru (MS)

Bengaluru, Jun 14: "The decision of the state government of cancelling online classes is right," said primary and secondary education minister Suresh Kumar.

Discussion for and against are already on with regards to the cancellation of online classes in the state. Many private schools have already started online classes for students of primary classes also. Many parents have already bought laptop and Android mobile phones for their wards. Some parents are saying that cancellation of online classes will cause inconvenience to the students. However, some other parents are expressing their unhappiness over online classes.

Leading medical institution Nimhans has also said that it is not right to conduct online classes for students of primary school.

Minister Suresh Kumar said, "This is not the right time to conduct regular classes due to the prevailing situation. There is no alternative method also. Now the immediate challenge that is in front of us is ensuring the students write examinations without the danger of contracting Covid-19 infection. In future, we will take decision to impart judicial and effective education to students. Various discussions are taking place in this regard. We will also speak to the parents and take a final decision.

"Revision classes were held for SSLC students for one month on Chandana TV channel. This effort was successful. We have also appealed to the central government to continue educational activities in Doordarshan channel also. Teachers have already started their activities. The work of installation of art studios is being done in selected districts.

"The activities of online classes that are being conducted by some schools are going to be stopped soon. Instructions are given to officials to keep an eye on such developments. Private schools should understand the decision taken by the government taking into account the wellbeing of children. Many parents are requesting us not to stop online classes through social media. Parents also opine that the children are just wasting time at home. However, some other parents are urging us to cancel online classes. A committee is formed to look into this matter. We will take a decision in line with the recommendation of the committee.

"We have discussed with people from all departments with regards to online classes. A committee is already formed. The voice of people will be heard while forming a policy. Some parents are requesting to conduct online classes from home due to the pandemic that has affected the whole nation. The present situation has made us think of options which we never thought of earlier.

"The situation in Tamil Nadu and Telangana states is different. Court has taken out order in favour of examinations. We have taken all decisions keeping in mind the wellbeing of students,” he said.

During the Congress ruling UGC distance learning classes are conducted free cos of through Delhi Doorshan. Those days technology is not that of today. But it has certainly changed many students life forever.

The chest thumping BJP which talks about 'Digital India' is nowhere close to the former ruling dispensation taking the India forward.

In today's India most of the population is living under the lower middle class category can't afford high speed internet connection with smart phone. Even though they can afford there are no assurance that 24 hours power supply.

In this scenario the government should have asked the local cable TV operators to run the 'virtual classes' that has wider network. If BJP can do the 'Virtual' election campaign in Bihar why not classes for the students?
Is students carrier is much important than the elections?

If its so difficult, voluntarily opt out. Atleast kids who are willing to learn will continue to learn. Why deprive them opportunity for your reasons.

Online classes are the need of the hour now. Government should understand this, we cannot leave the children to just waste their time whole day using tabs and laptops watching all unnecessary stuff. Some parents are also brainless I think. They should think these online classes are blessing in disguise. Teachers are taking so much of efforts to help children learn something atleast in these days of pandemic, why don't they understand this. If the government had to ban, why didn't it ask the opinion before the commencement of classes, now all the teachers have undergone training for online classes and are well prepared with all the materials , how can we ask them to stop when they have spend all their more than a month's training to go waste. There is no doubt that it is highly beneficial to the students.

I do support online class by 50%. Many a parents are not as rich as you to buy laptop and mobile phone to a particular individual. Being a student I can say that we face online class difficultty because of unclear audio and video and most of them face connectivity issues and recharge issue because the telecom companies have increased their plan prices drastically which are not affordable by most of them.im not an example but some of my friends are. My mom too doesn't understand what they teach in online classes because of its bad audio quality and student disturbance. And there by I can say it's not that you need to force a particular individual but instead of simply sitting in front of a damn bad quality teaching system I would appreciate it to Stop instead of listening to the crap talk. I have many complaints but can't type more cause I have exam on 18th .

Our respected elected members and the education minister need to seriously understnd the need of thr hour and decide on live online classes at the earliest. Children at least had a few hours of fun activities and some other classes. Respected Education Minister, Kindly decide at the earliest about live online classes. A lot of parents for it since these classes also help children to keep their learning process active. Let us not fool ourselves and at the end, our children will miss out an opportunity to learn something useful.

Lockdown has had a direct effect on education. Lockdown is equal to downfall of education. The live online classes were much enjoyed by children of all age groups. It was well monitored Screen time. People who talk of myopia really need to have a reality check on how many hours a kid spends playing on a mobile. Isn't that screen time bad for the eyes? If the Govt. doesn't come up with some concrete plan of action for live online classes....it will be a huge loss for children who often find it so difficult to recall i information for a few days. We are taking about months without school and teaching-learning process. I'm for live online classes so that a child sees his teacher, feels happy about it and also gets a chance to interact with the teacher. Every teacher is an educator. Govt. just can't stop a groups of highly motivated and passionate teachers who drive the wheels of education in India. Irrespective of private or govt. run schools, we need live online classes ASAP.

I think this guy might have failed his 10th grade final examination.

Now he knows the importance of 10th marks card. That's the reason he is so much behind this test.

The smart phone s are not with many families. So the poverty of the past is not mitigated by successive governments. The politicians don't want to invest in education process improvement as there is no votes bank. The government has not any alternative plans for these students. "Nimhans has also said that it is not right to conduct online classes for students of primary school."

    That is not correct.

What NIMHANS said was not to provide online learning to under SIX YEARS OF AGE. Nothing about primary school.

He should have done it three months back when lockdown started and when the classes started. The minister kept quiet and saw the fun for three months promising that he will open in May, then June, and now August. Somewhere he lost his bet and cancelled the online classes. Maybe another week he will cancel up to 10th. Better close the year 2020-21 and start fresh May 2021.

Now the government talking of online classes for UPSC. Whom we are fooling!
