Mangalore, Feb 15: “Opportunities are available in abundance in all the sectors. If people make use of the opportunities and work steadfastly with single-minded devotion, they are sure to succeed,” felt union law and justice minister, M Veerappa Moily. He was speaking after accepting the felicitation extended to him by Karnataka Rajya Devadigara Sangha at the Samaj Bhhavan in the city on Sunday February 14.

“What you do and how much determination you have can only catapult you on the path of success. Your achievements will be the backbone of your success in life. You should understand that luck does not play more than five percent in one’s life. The balance 95 percent can be built with sheer work and solid determination. Courage is needed to take risks and lead one’s goals steadfastly,” he advised.

“Concentration is of paramount importance for a person to nurture an aptitude for exploration and work in new horizons. Nothing comes with birth, and our attitudes are shaped by the environment we are brought up in. Your minds should not be allowed to be a playground for confusions. Concentration helps you to get the best of thoughts and ideas,” he felt.

Moily said that people do not have any external competitors. The only competitor one has is himself. There is a need for the people to understand that every moment is precious, and there should not be any dearth of love in one’s life, he added. “Because of the unstinted love I received from the people, I could rise in the field of politics,” he said. He confessed that he does not appreciate felicitations as they waste lost of his time, but claimed, he accepted this invitation because of the love with which the invitation was extended to him. “I am committed to the development of the society ever,” he added.

Senior doctor, Dr K V Devadiga, who was a guest, termed Moily as the proud son of the society, who is ever active. SDM Business Management College principal, Dr Devaraj K, in his address, said that Moily has shown to the world that he can handle anything entrusted to him with élan and efficiency, as proved by his achievements in the field of administration, politics and literature.

The Sangha president, Dinesh Devadiga, presided. Vice-president, Vaman Maroly, listed out the achievements of Moily. General secretary, S Ramchandra Devadiga, presented the programme. Treasurer, Sadashiva M Devadiga, proposed vote of thanks.
