Bantwal: ICYM, YCS Units of Siddakatte Parish Celebrate Annual Day

Bantwal, Feb 17:
The Indian Catholic Youth Movement (ICYM) and Young Christian Students (YCS) units of St Patrick parish, Siddakatte, celebrated their 39th and 19th annual days respectively, in a function held at parish grounds here recently.
 
Siddakatte parish priest Fr Valerian D’Souza presided over the programme.


 

Nigel Noronha, president of Chithanya Foundation (R), Uday Shanker H, principal, Government First Grade College, Siddakatte, and Ronald Fernandes, vice-president, Siddakatte parish council, were the chief guests at the function. 
 
Speaking on the occasion, Uday Shanker said that ICYM youth are doing an excellent job for the betterment of society and he urged the youth to continue such programmes with the same spirit and zeal.
 
Fr D’Souza said that the youth are doing great work for the parish and hence, need to be supported and guided properly.
 
Dr Sujatha D’ Costa was felicitated for securing a PhD.  
 
ICYM members who got married during the year were honoured for rendering their valuable service to the organization.
 
Siddakatte parish unit ICYM president Philip Menezes welcomed the gathering.  ICYM president Praveen Coutinho proposed the vote of thanks. Deepthi, Reema, and Jackson compered the programme. 
 
Konkani drama ‘Pittasi Sovnsaar’, by playwright Jo C Siddakatte and Tulu drama ‘Amritha Malige’ by playwright Vasudeva Lila were staged by ICYM members as part of the entertainment programme.
 
Sachin Lloyd Fernandes, promoter of Nightingale music group, conducted ‘Antakshari’ competitions for the youth. 
 
A ward-wise competition on display of traditional household accessories including agricultural tools of native Konkans, was also held on the occasion.
