Mangalore: Accused Arrested after 33 Years of Lodging Complaint!

Mangalore, Feb 15:  Relating to a case of assault that occurred in the city 33 years ago, the policemen of Urwa police station here arrested a man on Tuesday February 16.

John Peter (60), a native of Kerala, had been working for Bhaskar Rao, an assistant engineer residing in Ashok Nagar, Urwa in the city. In the year 1977, for some frivolous reasons, John had fought with Rao, assaulted him and escaped. On a complaint lodged by Bhaskar Rao, a case was registered in Urwa police station.

After a local sessions court issued arrest warrant against Peter, the policemen had tried their best to nab him, but in vain. A police party led by Urwa sub-inspector of police, Suresh, who got information that the accused had settled down at Viyyur in Trissur, Kerala, went there, arrested him, and produced him in the court. The court remanded him to a day’s judicial custody.
