Shimoga, Mar 24: Cine and small screen actress, Bharati Vishnuvardhan, was conferred with the ‘Srimata’ award by Sri Raghaveshwara Bharati Swamiji of Sri Ramachandrapur Mutt, Hosanagar in the district, at a religious meeting held at the Mutt premises on Tuesday March 23 on the occasion of ‘Ramotsava’.

“Bharati is one of the few stars who imbibed gentle qualities and reached the zenith of acting talent on the foundation of spirituality,” the Swamiji observed. He also said that unlike several other actors who display symptoms of fickle-mindedness and ego, both Bharati and Vishnuvardhan always exhibited profound peace and eloquence.

Bharati, after receiving the award, felt that a large share of the credit for the award should go to the late Vishnuvardhan.

Director of the animal husbandry department, Dr Rajagopal, presided over the function. Actor Shivaram, entrepreneur, Suresh P Shetty, Chandrashekhar Shetty and Dr Giridhar Khaje were present.
