Udupi: District Gram Panchayat Employees Stage Protest Seeking State Benefits

Udupi, Mar 25: The district unit of Karnataka State Gram Panchayat Employees’ Association affiliated to Centre for Indian Trade Union staged a protest in front of the office of zilla panchayat, here on Thursday March 25. 
 
In response to the statewide call, the protesters led by district association office-bearers Venkatesh Koni, Vittal Poojary, Dogu Suvarna, Vijendra Koni, Vasu Shanbhog, Rajeev Padukone and Nagaraj Devadiga, submitted a memorandum of demands to the zilla panchayat chide executive officer.

 
Association demanded to revise the pay scales of gram panchayat employees, as per the concerned ministry’s circular dated September 1 2008, implement the provision of provident fund, as per state order dated November 1 2008, award dearness allowance on the basis of consumer’s price index from April 1 2008 till to date and promote panchayat secretary to Class II employees among others.
