Karkala, Apr 7: Former MLA and Karnataka State BJP Yuvamorcha president, V Sunil Kumar, announced here on Tuesday April 6 at a press conference, that the BJP’s ‘Vijaya Sankalp Samavesh’ will be held in the town on Sunday April 11.

“The Samavesh is being held at seven zonal centres in the state, including Bandimutt here. Encouraged by the victory in the Bruhat Bangalore Mahanagara Palike election, the party is taking the challenge of the upcoming gram panchayat election with renewed vigour,” Kumar stated.

He informed that a total of 3,130 elected representatives of 626 gram panchayats located in Udupi, Dakshina Kannada, Chikmagalur and Kodagu districts, will take part in this programme.  “This programme has been undertaken with the optimism that the state government’s schemes and achievements will percolate down to the village level, only when almost all the panchayats are controlled by the BJP-supported candidates,” he narrated.

For managing the coming election efficiently, a team of five leaders including a woman, from each panchayat, will be formed. This team will be brought together at seven places in the state to educate them about preliminary preparations, importance of the election and how to work for the party’s victory. In the third phase, the state president of the BJP will tour all over the state,” he said.

“The programme will be inaugurated by the Chief Minister, B S Yeddyurappa. State BJP president, K S Eshwarappa, will speak about the importance of the gram panchayat election. The valedictory address will be delivered by the party’s national secretary, Anant Kumar. BJP MLAs, MPs, chairmen of corporations and boards from the four districts, and the elected people’s representatives of these districts will take part in the Samavesh,” Sunil Kumar said.

Agricultural Produce Market Committee president, Antony D’Souza, block general secretary, Anand Bandimutt, Purushottam Rao, spokesman, Narasimha Kamat etc., were present at the press conference.
