Mumbai, Apr 15: Traditional Vaishak celebrations or ‘Bisu Kani Utsav’ were held at Siddi Vinayaka Mandir, located beside the Western Express Highway at Jogeshwari (East), on Wednesday April 14. It was organized by the regional committee of metro-based Thiya Samaj.
Chandrashekar Belchada, president, Thiya Samaj, inaugurated the Bisu Kani Utsav by lighting the lamp.
Thiya Samaj president Rohidas S Bangera, former president K P Arvind, honorary secretary Praveen Shankar B M, Babu L, Sridar Suvarna, editor, ‘Thiya Jyothi’ monthly journal, sub-editor Babu Belchada, western suburb’s regional committee president Sudhakar Ucchil, women’s wing president Chandra Suvarna, and eastern suburb’s president Vranda Dinesh were present on the occasion.
The programme began with a prayer song by women members. Gangadar Kallady performed the religious rites. Thiya Bhagavati Bhajana Mandal members conducted the Bhajan programme.
Veteran writer Vaman Idya, president, Bhagavati Temple, Sasihitlu, Mangalore, was felicitated on the same occasion.
