Mumbai: Man arrested for raping 10-year-old daughter

Mumbai, Oct 12: A 40-year-old man was arrested by the Mumbai police for allegedly raping his 10-year-old daughter at his residence in Vakola area in Mumbai, officials said on Sunday October 11.

Since the last four years the man is reportedly staying separate from his wife while the accused was living with his daughter in Mumbai. His wife was staying at Surat in Gujrat.

On Friday,the mother took the daughter to Sion hospital and realized that the minor was raped and alerted the Vakola police. Upon police's arrival the girl told that she was raped by her father, an official said.

The mother said that her daughter had gone to visit her in Surat a few days back and complained having pain on her private part but the doctors were not able to find any reason for it. The woman then brought her to Mumbai and took her to Sion hospital where it was confirmed that she was raped. The victim's mother then lodged a complaint and the man was arrested on Friday.

A case has been registered under Prevention of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act and various sections under the Indian Penal Code (IPC) including 376(rape). ( As per Supreme Court The victim's identity has not been revealed to protect her privacy)

    Legalise prostitution by taxing it where the Government can generate revenue and the crime rates will definitely fall down. Necessary measures and tests need to be taken for safety measures. Any person who is accused of raping should be jailed for minimum 30 years with a fine of 10lakhs or hanged to death. Any politicians accused with crime in their past history shouldn't be given ticket in parliment. Government should take necessary measures and plan accordingly the new ideas to avoid these when these are happening from decades.

    Day by day situation is becoming serious and worst.what type of father he is.cant be called as father but a animal.otherside mother shouldnt have left a 10years old girl alone with father. hope the girl will recover her health and mind fast.she must have not realized the situation as serious.
