Daijiworld Media Network – Mangalore (SP)

Mangalore, Apr 29: Several villages in Karkala taluk of Udupi district including Hosmar, Edu, Kervashe, Ajekar, Sanoor and Karkala received heavy rains coupled with speeding winds on Wednesday April 28. Several other regions in Karkala and Udupi taluks like Udupi, Manipal, Aroor, Petri etc.,  got light rains. In Dakshina Kannada district, Sullia was the only taluk to be hit by heavy rain coupled with thunder, on Wednesday evening. Damages to a few houses due to falling trees were reported from Subrahmanya and Balnad village near Puttur.

Because of the winds, power supply to most places getting power through the 110 kv feeder in Puttur town got severed. The Mescom personnel worked since morning and resumed power supply in the afternoon.

The telephone and internet connections in several remote areas of the twin-districts continue to be disrupted. In a few places, the snapped electric poles are yet to be re-erected, as a result of which, power supply is yet to be resumed.
