Bangalore: CM's Largesse to TN Temple Baffles Priests

Daijiworld Media Network – Bangalore (SP)

Bangalore, May 9: State Chief Minister (CM), B S Yeddyurappa, had visited Sri Devanathaswami Lakshmi Hayagreeva temple near Aralumigu in Kadalur, Tamil Nadu, on Thursday May 6. He had performed the ‘Shatru Samhara’ oblation aimed at immobilizing the enemies. This oblation, which is popular among the politicians, was performed to help the state government to come out of the sticky situation it is in because of the minister Halappa’s alleged involvement in a rape case.

It is learnt that the CM, immediately on his return to the city from the above temple on Friday, wrote to the finance department, asking it to release one crore rupees to the temple above-named, for its development. This instruction has come at a time when hundreds of temples in the state are in a neglected state, and their priests get a pittance to run the show, and when the state does not have enough funds for drinking water projects and other urgent necessities.

Out of the 24,000 temples under the muzrai department, nearly half do not have priests. As the priests are unable to maintain the temples properly out of the meagre amount they get from the government, no priest is coming forward to serve the temples that are not frequented by many devotees, it is learnt. The pertinent question here is, whether Karnataka has to donate to a temple in Tamil Nadu, as the temples there are expected to be looked after by that state government. The priests of the temples under muzrai department are angry that the CM has chosen to honour the request of a temple in another state within a day, by neglecting their own pleas for renovation of the dilapidated temples, improvement of facilities etc., that have been pending with the muzrai department since the last several years.

Our PM being so matured and being in such a responsible position is acting like a religious fanatic. He needs to be told that we are living in a secular and democratic country. He is wasting his valuable time in temple visits and wasting tax payers' money on temples. If there is a provision it should be applicable to all the religions. He also promised rupees 20 crores if I am correct, for a memorial for Vishnuvardhan. We all have great respect for him but that does not mean you have to allocate such a huge sum just for a memorial. It is very clear our CM is playing with peoples' money. As someone rightly said he should donate BJP party funds for all such activities.

This guy is unbelievable.. I hope no more cases of rape or other such stuff appear with the names of BJP members.. Or else this person will be performing all these rituals again at some other temples with donation of crores.. This guy is turning into another Zardari.. That guy is looting his peoples money and this guy is lavishly giving away peoples money.. At the end of his reign I am not sure what will be the state of the people of Karnataka, but all the temples around the world will be in tremendous form.. Way to go Yeddy!! You ll be recieving a lot of votes from Gods next time.. You can forget about people now!!

What a wonderful CM we have !! To protect a rapists, he runs from temple to temple at the mercy of public money. We complain that India was looted by Mughals & British. Now Karnatak treasury is being emptied by our CM to please God. People of Karnatak have elected you as their leader to help & serve them. Please discharge your duties sincerely and honestly and God will be pelased well instead of trying to bribe God through public money. It is a pity that still there are people who worship 'Shri Yediyurappji'.

    Good people of Karnataka,
Am I to understand that the CM is doling out tax payers money from government coffers towards temple development funds? If he is so generous and magnanimous why does he not dole out BJP party funds or from his personal account ? Reviewing the news report and if it is a fact that payment would be effected from the state exchequer, I would think from a logical point in a secular country all religous institutions should also recieve monetary aid as well!
Wake up Kannadigas your need of the hour is food, water and electricity !!
