Mangaluru, Nov 16: A large number of devotees and tourists took advantage of weekend holidays to visit various temples in the twin-districts of Udupi and Dakshina Kannada on Saturday and Sunday.

In Kukke Lord Subrahmanya temple, 'Tulabhara' and 'Annaprashana' rituals were made available from November 15 after a long gap. While other services had been offered after remaining closed due to the fears of the pandemic and opened about a month back, these two services had not been made available. The temple's festivities have also begun on Monday.

Similarly there was an increased attendance of devotees at Lord Manjunatheshwara temple, Dharmasthala and Southadka Mahaganapathi temple. Similarly Kateel Goddess Durgaparameshwari temple was visited by over ten thousand devotees.

Udupi Sri Krishna Math had about 5,000 visitors. The Math had opened its doors on September 28 after remaining closed for about six months. From November 4, the timings of the Lord's Darshan has been increased by two hours in the morning session.

Malpe beach in particular had high number of visitors. It seemed that the people are a little relieved now about the dwindling incidences of coronavirus infection. People actively utilised adventure sports and other entertainment facilities provided at the beach. Other beaches including Mattu beach near Udupi too had good crowds.

We finally moved past the peak in September and now everybody have let the hair down. It's as if nothing happened at all. I really hope that some sense breaks into these people to celebrate while maintaining social distance. Normal people learn from their own mistakes, fools don't learn from their own, but wise learn from other's mistakes. Don't know from whom we will learn after all. Delhi is experiencing second wave, so is also Europe and US.

    Cynthi,

Did you performed 'Gou Pooja' today ???...

I used to put 'Gonde Huvu' garland to our Cows and Calves after giving bath to them on 'Gou Pooja' day....Problem our Cows were trying to eat them ( Flowers), using their long tongues to reach flowers ....So I used to make Garland as short as I could....so she wont eat it !!!....

While giving bath...if water is too cold or too hot...she used to beat me with her tail...So I have to ask somebody to hold her tail while giving bath to her...trust me its more complicated than you think...

    ...Tak...Takk...

Everyone sitting at home for a long time its almost like 10 months, will make you depressed, isolated, lazy and not even think of doing something good and energetic. Vist all the places, Follow strict guidlines like wear mask, wash yor hands , live like before with a new addition of mask and maintain a space.

It is a relief for many. But these visitors who have thronged temples and beaches have done at their risk. As we all know Covid-19 is still lingering in many places all over the universe and it might flare up anytime and anywhere.
