Mangaluru, Dec 1: “As lockdown was imposed in the country due to coronavirus, businessmen faced hardship. Small loans for capital are being extended to them so that they can resume business and make use of the facility,” said district MP and BJP state president Nalin Kumar Kateel.

He was speaking after inaugurating information seminar on small loans scheme for roadside vendors under Prime Minister’s Atmanirbhar SVANidhi scheme held under the joint aegis of district administration, Mangaluru City Corporation, town panchayat and private and national banks in Kudmul Ranga Rao auditorium.

“The Prime Minister implemented Jan Dhan Yojana so that government schemes reach the last person in society. Through this scheme, 35,000 crore people receive benefits of various government schemes directly into their bank accounts. The Prime Minister's SVANidhi scheme will help roadside vendors receive small loans to resume business and be independent,” the MP said.

“Over 4,176 people have already applied for small loans. 1,600 among them have received loans and resumed business. The seminar was held today so that other vendors make use of the scheme. Even the last person in the district should be able to avail the scheme. Cooperative bank president M N Rajendra Prasad has also extended help to fisherwomen by lending loans to them,” he said.
