Mangaluru: Two arrested in connection to inflammatory graffiti incidents

Mangaluru, Dec 5: City police have arrested two persons in connection with graffiti written in support of terrorist organisations on the wall of an apartment in Bejai and old checkpost near court premises.

Addressing media here on Saturday December 5, police commissioner Vikash Kumar Vikas said, "The arrested have been identified as Mohammad Shaarik and Maz Munir Ahmed, both from Theerthahalli."

The accused, Mohammed Shaarik (22) has completed BCom and running a cloth shop in Theerthahalli.

Another accused, Maz Munir Ahammed (21) is pursuing BTech from a private college in Mangaluru and staying at a rented house near Arya Samaj road. He has been working at a delivery company since three months in Mangaluru.

The police commissioner said that their motive in committing the offence was to gain publicity. "They had written the graffiti at court road three weeks before they wrote on the walls at Bejai. The graffiti at court road was written in Urdu language but in English script, but the graffiti went unnoticed as people here could not understand the language. The two accused then decided to write at Bejai wall of an apartment to gain publicity.

"Based on our various networks, the accused were traced. We will produce them to the court and ask for police custody and further investigation will be conducted.

"We will also find out if they have any links to any organizations," the commissioner said.

It may be recalled that a day after the media reported the arrest of an accused in connection with the scribbling of provocative graffiti favouring terrorist organisations on the retaining wall of an apartment and a graffiti on the wall old police outpost at court premises, the Mangaluru city police on Friday November 4 denied any arrest in connection with the case. However, the commissioner has now confirmed the two arrests.

Mr RSRB..Any punishment given to these rascals is less...At testing times like this, these guys are further trying to divide the communities.Apply sedition charges and lock them for good.Once in police custody, police will bend the bones...Should be an eye opener for people who even think of doing this kind of stuff..

I had remarked earlier, stating that the citizens of Mangaluru, had the confidence, in their police force, to unearth the conspiracy, which has finally nailed, two educated youths of fermenting communal unrest in Dakshin Kannada district. The intelligence inputs, did take time to expose these two youngsters.. Investigation will reveal if they have a nexus, with criminal lobbyists, who are active in South India....
