Daijiworld Media Network – Kundapur (SP)

Kundapur, May 31: In an incident that occurred early morning on Monday May 31 near Sangam Circle in the town, Sridhar (30), driver of a police jeep, was killed after robbers hit him with a knife. He was moving in the jeep along with the inspector of Byndoor police station, Kantaraj, to keep vigil on the highway, after getting information from the local police station that some robbers were threatening people and extorting money from them.

When their jeep reached Sangam Circle, they came face to face with a gang of robbers, who were being chased by the town policemen. In the tussle between the policemen and robbers, the jeep driver suffered a deep gash in his chest, when one of the robbers swished his knife at him. He lost his life on the spot.

The people then joined hands with the policemen in hunting for the robbers, and found them hiding near a bridge. Two of the robbers, both of whom were speaking Malayalam and Hindi, were nabbed. District superintendent of police, Pravin Madhukar Pawar, and inspector, Vishwanath, rushed to the spot. Investigations are on.

That is also silly comment from your side ( If you are perfect in that, its nowadays business, think over it ) My family is close to both BJP / Cong. leaders in udupi. What's wrong with people like Shanawaz? Crime is not unique to Karnataka. It happens all over the world. People like you discredit those who want to criticize the state govt based on true facts, not based on some unfounded emotions. As such, minorities have an image problem in India, please don't make our life more difficult. Please!

    Bangera/Katapady,

Here the attack is not on common man but on the police who are on duty and on patrol who are equiped and armed. !!! You people blindly support Acharya because of his party. There could be a better person in BJP who could deliver and more efficient than Acharya. Here I am not against party, but against the non performing minister. If the police is not safe, who else in this state could be safe. If tomorrow your own house at Katapady is burgled, then I am sure you will join me. Now you are safe and so you comment. Stop this hypocrisy.

    Mr VS Acharya,

Please wake up from your deep slumber. The law and order situation has worsened. If it is the case with the police, how safe is aam aadmi in our state? Robbers, thugs, haters, fundamentalists, terrorists are enjoying their life and freely wandering without any fear. Karnataka is no doubt a jungle raj now and a state with the concept of "might is right".

Both CM and HM are busy in paying visits to the temples and mutts and have no time at their disposal to govern and rule by law. Pathetic situation.
