Bengaluru: Government hikes special allowances of medical officers, specialists

Bengaluru, Dec 23: The government has issued an order, upwardly revising the special allowances of different categories of specialist doctors, on duty medical officers and dental health officers. The enhancement will be given retrospective effect from September 1.

Allowances of doctors holding MBBS/BDS degrees who have served for six to 13 years has been increased to Rs 37,500 from existing Rs 22,000, for doctors with postgraduate degree/diploma, allowances have been hiked to Rs 64,500 from the existing Rs 43,700 while those holding super speciality qualification will draw special allowance of Rs 73,500 as against earlier Rs 52,100.

Allowances for other medical officers also have been changed depending on their educational qualification and length of service. Minimum hike in allowance is Rs 9,500.

The announcement has come after the Karnataka Medical Officers Association requested the government to revise allowances on the model of CGHC and medical education minister, Dr K Sudhakar, held discussions with the office bearers by calling for a meeting.
