Honorary Doctorate Presented to D Veerendra Heggade

Dharwad, June 3( DHNS) : 'There is an urgent need for universities to change their curriculum keeping the contemporary challenges in view,' opined Dharmasthala dharmadhikari D Veerendra Heggade.

Speaking after receiving the honourary doctorate degree from the Karnatak University at the varsity’s Golden Jubilee Auditorium here on Wednesday, he stated that the educational institutes should have autonomous status so that they could change the curriculum in tune with the modern needs.

Professors should also update themselves with recent knowlegde and technology. Students should have both skills and knowledge, if their degree given by the universities has to get some value and meaning, otherwise they would be neglected, he felt.

“My service in T M A Pai institutes helped me to be successful in SDM institutes established in Dharwad. Success in life can be achieved only by accepting challenges,” he said.
Dr Heggade also recalled his association with Karnatak University. Karnatak University Vice-Chancellor S K Saidapur presented the honourary doctorate degree to Dr Heggade.
Dr Veerendra Heggade could not attend the varsity’s convocation held in the month of February, and therefore, a special function was organised on Wednesday, to present the honourary doctorate to him.

Registrar S B Hinchigeri, Registrar (Evaluation) J S Bhat, Mass Communication & Journalism Department Chairman A S Balasubramanya, and others were present.
