Bengaluru: KSRTC slashes charges for contract buses

Bengaluru, Jan 8: Karnataka State Road Transportation Corporation (KSRTC) has brought down charges on buses being provided for tour, marriage and other occasions on contract basis. With effect from January 6, it has reduced hire charges on luxury buses between five and 16 rupees per kilometre.

The corporation said in a release that hire charges have been brought down to encourage people to hire luxury and premium buses for different occasions. Per day minimum kilometres has been reduced from 500 to 400 km now.

Airavat buses will cost five to seven rupees less per km. So far, charges for Airavat club multi axle buses was fixed at Rs 70 per km between Friday and Sunday, and Rs 77 for inter-state travel. Between Monday and Thursday, the rate was Rs 65 per kilometre. Now, during the weekend, buses will be charged at Rs 65 per km within the state, Rs 70 for other states. Similar reduction of rates have been given in case of other types of buses too.
