Shimoga, Jun 10: On Wednesday June 9, a mother consumed poison and fed the same to her two children, after learning that the condition of her sick husband is critical, at a lodge here. While mother, Saroja (44) working as a nurse in local McGann Hospital and daughter, Madhushree (8) died, the condition of son, Manoj (12) is critical, it is learnt.

Saroja’s husband, Manjunath, who used to work as supervisor in Manjappa Hospital here, had been suffering from lung cancer since some time. He was being treated in Manipal Hospital. As the doctors there found that treatments did not have any positive affect on his health condition, they discharged Manjappa from the hospital. He was brought to Harogoppa in Teerthahalli on Tuesday.

Immediately after getting this information, Saroja consumed poison and asked her two children too to consume it. The policemen said that Manjunath too died about an hour after his wife and daughter succumbed.

I pray that their souls rest in peace.

What lesson do we learn from this ? If an uneducated, unemployed woman does such a thing, her situation would have been understood. How can a nurse, who saves or comforts thousands, do this ? What will be the future of the boy if he will survive ? I feel too bad for him.
