Mangalore, Jun 10: Amis Ahmed and Tariq Omer Fazal, the students of BE- Biotechnology, PA College of Engineering here have secured third place in the first-ever statewide Bio-quiz Competition organized by the department of IT, BT and Science & Technology at Hotel Lalit Ashok, Bangalore, recently.  

The prize consists cash of Rs 25,000 and citations. The objective of the quiz was to create awareness and help students understand science and biotechnology in a more comprehensive manner keeping them abreast of the latest developments in the world of biotechnology.

Bio-quiz was one of its kind initiatives to spread awareness about biotechnology and applications field that may go a long way in popularizing biotechnology amongst students.

The quiz was organized for BSc, BE-Biotechnology and B-Pharma students across the state. It was a part of Bangalore India Bio 2010. The quiz consisted of two rounds. In round-1, online test was administered at regional level and two best teams were selected from each region for state finals, round-2.
